Gospel for Players - Schubert Church Concert

A piano concert by Mr. Wagner, the world-famous pianist, senior professor of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, and his wife Susanna • Artz will be held in a church where Schubert were baptized on the evening of 2nd August 2016! Mrs. Wagner is a pianist; the couple co-founded the "ARSIO PIANO DUO" duet, and dedicated to the performances of double piano repertoire, four hands Duet, and etc.

After the careful arrangement by the organizing committee, tickets of the Schubert church concert will be purchased for all the participants of 2016 Schubert International Piano Competition for Children and Youth. Participants will be lucky to have the chance to attend the Schubert church concert! More experiences could be gained from the competition of the trip to Vienna. May the dreams of participants shine bright and beautiful!

MANFRED WAGNER-ARTZT

Born in Vienna, Manfred Wagner-Artzt was admitted to study at the former „Academy of Music and performing Art“ in Vienna in the class of Richard Hauser at the age of 13. Four years later he continued his education with the renowned pianist Alexander Jenner and obtained his concert pianist diploma in 1974. Only a few months later he gained a second diploma, by finishing his studies of chamber music. He is renowned as a soloist, a chamber musician and a Lied-accompanist, promoted by Erik Werba.

 · The Schubert church has a history over 300 years, it currently located in the 9th district, Vienna

  · Franz Schubert, who was born on 31st Jan, 1797, was baptized in this church.

  · Schubert's first teacher was the church’s choirmaster, Michael Holzer.

  · On 25th Sep, 1814, 17-year-old Schubert composed Mass No.1 in F major to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the church. Mass No.1 was a big success in its debut, and Schubert's reputation gradually rised after it.

   · Till 1816, Schubert composed 17 church music works, 4 of which are Masses for this church.
